A Wish in Cannes

My dear friends, Mick and Magali, are at the Cannes Film Festival this week representing and celebrating their short film “A Wish Where the Wind Once Blew.”  It was selected for the Cannes Short Film Corner (BIG shout out to the whole team!).  It sounds like they’re having an amazing time. Mick was the short’s DP and Magali the Production Manager.  ( I worked with Mick and Magali on our first short film Til Death Do Us Toby.  We all hope to work together again on other shorts and hopefully the Jukebox feature film.)

The short film that got into Cannes is a really special film and they did such an amazing job (Way to Go Mickali!).  It’s a cinematic, fantasy tale in honour of Eva Markvoort; a young woman from New Westminster, BC who died last March 2010 from cystic fibrosis at the age of 25.  Her battle was captured in a documentary, 65_REDROSES, which will be airing on OWN (Oprah’s new network).  It’s an extremely powerful doc (get our your tissues) that’s ultimate message is the importance of organ donation.  Are you an organ donor?  I am.  If you’re not, you should consider it, as it can really affect so many lives for people who are waiting for transplants.
