The Changing Face of Lipstick & Dipstick

I’m working on the photo calendar for our Lipstick & Dipstick column in Curve Magazine.  Up until this point, Dipstick and I have done photoshoots biannually together with beloved photographer Maggie Parker. (We love you, Mags!)

It’s always a joyous, playful day the three of us spend together.  Lots of laughter, dirty talk (Lipstick) and post-libations.  (There was some good imbibing during once, when Dipstick and I tried to shoot a bedroom scene.  It was never published because it was so awkward.  Dipstick and I are simply friends, through and through.  We couldn’t even fake it. It was splattered all over the lens.)

All these previous shoots took place in Portland, Oregon, where we were both living at the time (LOVE Portland!).  I’m calling Vancouver, BC home these days (LOVE Vancouver, too!) and it’s been increasingly difficult to get down south for photoshoots.  So, we’ve hatched a new idea:

How about doing photo shoots separately?  Will we lose the magic?  Do we need each other’s energy to pull it off?

We’ll see.

That doesn’t mean we won’t still do more shoots together, but we’re going to give it a whirl.

And now I’m on task, combing through emails dykes have sent in—we get LOTS of questions each month—to find the gems that are:

1) original/fresh

2) visually rich

Wish us luck!  If you’ve got a great question you want to see come alive through Lipstick & Dipstick, send it here: ask@lipstickdipstick.com
