Last year, my pitch for Til Death Do Us Toby (TDDUT) was selected as a winner in the contest Hot Pink Shorts (Round 1). It was an AMAZING experience that has changed my life (read more).
Not only did OUTtv fund my first short, TDDUT, but it also provided mentors along the way and made a documentary out of the whole process. The documentary, which airs on OUTtv in Canada, is a fun, jam-packed hour-long snapshot of what it takes to write/direct/produce your first film. (Of course, I had tons of help. My partner was a co-writer and assistant director, and my friend Michael Krizaj gave MUCH of himself behind the camera and in the editors chair, so did his partner Magali Gillon)
Round 2 of the contest is running right now (read more). If you live in Vancouver and have an idea for a film (it must be a true story), submit your pitch today! Check out the current pitches being considered and then grab your camera and your creative and get ‘er done!
Below is the final cut of my short film: Til Death Do Us Toby, a quirky little film about secrets, survival and finding freedom told through the eyes of a neurotic dog, Toby.
